Unit of Measure Conversions
We are in the process of implementing Xtuple however have run into a roadbloack relative to units of measure. We are a manufacturing company that utlizes raw materials is pounds however the unit of measure for the actual item is in grams. The products we manufacture a very small however used in very high volumes. We need to receive our raw materials and issue them in pounds however in calculating material content we would use grams since Lbs would equate to a substantial amount of zeros.
One example would be as follows: I receive a colorant in 25 Lbs. The part uses 0.0082 grams of this colorant. To convert to pounds you would multiply 0.0082 by 0.0022046 which gives you 1.807772 E -5 !
we need to be able to convert automatically for raw material planning however when I add a conversion to the item and select my unit of measure as 1 Lb per 453.59, I will have to input the actual QTY per and select a ISSUE UOM in either Lbs or Grams. I need to also issue the materials in Lbs howver when the material content is calculated.
If this is not clear, think in terms of identifying how much raw material I need per part in grams and correlating this amount back to the amount of raw material I need in Lbs.
If I apply the Inventory UOM in Lbs and then I apply the conversion and add the part weight in grams, I end up with everything after this in grams!!
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
