In our procedures we have Drawings DWF and PDF's that define the operation to be performed.
Is it possible to store documents in XTuple for easy retrieval by operators?
Item Masters and Work Orders in the current version support attachment of linked URLso or files stored directly in the database. You could give your operators view only access to these windows to get to the documents in question.
What currently isn't supported is a methodology to automatically copy documents from a given source to a work order. Should some or all documents be copied from the item master when a work order is created, or from the Sales Order if it was generated by one? Should documents be allowed to be defined on the BOM or BOO header windows that get copied over? What about attaching documents just to specific operations? This methodology hasn't been worked out yet. It would be good to hear from folks how they think it should work. As always we have to balance the need for flexibility with the more general need to keep things as simple and intuitive as possible.
