Problems reinstalling Postbooks on a Mac

ereeves's picture

I had install PostBooks on my Mac with it was working properly. However, I read about the new desktop beta and decided to upgrade.

I encountered problems installing the beta and had to delete/uninstall PostBooks. However, when I tried to reinstall PostBooks, I got an error message that port 5432 was being used by other application. I decided to use port 5433 and the installation went along seemingly okay ... now I am getting error messages and I am unable to login anymore.

Can someone please provide me with a procedure to "clean out" my Mac and be able to properly install PostBook.

Thanks,

Eden

Eden, The error in the

Eden,

The error in the attached jpg shows that you're starting PostBooks and trying to connect to the default port 5432. However, on the reinstallation you changed the port to 5433. Try clicking on the Options... button on the login screen, changing the Port to 5433, clicking Save, and clicking the Login button again.

From the error you first stated about port 5432 already being in use, it sounds like you installed PostgreSQL during the first installation pass and again when reinstalling. If you've done so, you should select not installing PostgreSQL when rerunning the installer, even if for a newer version of xTuple ERP.

thank for your comments

Gil,

Thanks for your input. The problem was that I was not uninstalling the xTuple before reinstalling it which lead to the problem with the ports. I was just dragging the xtuple folder to "TRASH" which resulted in an incomplete uninstall. Once ran the uninstall program ... the port problem was resolved. ...
