More transactions!

One of my clients is fiddling with netbooks and is considering maybe the ipad when it's shipping for warehouse work - how hard would it be  to build simple transaction screens like issue to shippin, record production - just simple screens with a few input elements that gets updated.

Oh - I've also never seen any print functions on an "i" device...

Dan, Not to take away from

Dan,

Not to take away from your clients desire to use an i device, but we have developed these transactions and have made them available on wireless devices from AML, Intermec etc. See my blog at http://www.xtuple.org/node/2771. Certainly we can explore how these transactions can be viewed on an i device.

Norm

iDevice Integration

Dan,

Paladin Logic's iTuple runs on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and will be available immediately for the iPad once it is released. It is presently read-only access to xTuple CRM contacts, accounts, and todos. We would be happy to discuss this kind of project with you and your client.

Best regards,

Application purposes

Hi dkmeans,

You may want to define the application purpose and environment it needs to run under before considering equipment type!

You need industrial equipment to do the right work. I don't know if the iPad have scanning capabilities!

The success of the project may fail if the equipment adequate.

Sorry for not answering your question, but I think this needs to be documented properly before we can tell you how hard it is!

iDevice Integration

Robert makes a good point - the devil is always in the details.

That said, Paladin Logic develops for both xTuple and iDevice platforms. In fact, iTuple was developed as more than just an app - it is an iDevice xTuple framework. So, our initial development was a bit more complicated than if we had just built a single, 1-off app. But it eases integration of additional capabilities.

One great feature of working with the Apple framework is that Apple has made it easy to move code among devices. iTuple already runs on iPod Touch and iPhone. And here is a picture of iTuple running in the iPad simulator - as soon as it is released we will have ituple compiled and available for the iPad.

Feel free to give us a call or send an email. There are few things we like better than working with our two favorite systems (Apple iDevice and xTuple) at the same time!
