post commission payments
Hi Everyone,
I;m trying to figure out how to post commission payments in postboks edition could someone help me.
I don't mind cutting the checks manually but being able to mark the commission as paid would help tremendously. In the edit AR open item window there is a box for commission paid but i can not update it. Also i noticed when you run the commission summary report it lists commission paid as yes or no... but i don't know how to tell the system that i paid that commission. it would be nice not to have to keep a separate spreadsheet listing what has been paid. We pay commission once the invoice is paid for so i can't just use a cutoff date to be sure i don't double pay on the next commission payments.
Thanks for your help so far though.
Well, there is one way to do that, though I'm afraid it's terribly manual and tedious. From any of the sales history windows you can click on a sales history item in the list, choose edit, mark the item as paid, and save.
Your needs seem modest enough. If you have any interest in getting involved in development, I'm sure we could work out a reasonable quote to simply add a button to mark commissions as paid on the Earned commissions report. I'm envisioning that you could select multiple items and click this button, so one click takes care of a whole series. Probably add a "Select All" button as well.

If by that you mean for the system to cut checks and mark the
commissions as paid, there is no capability to "post" commissions per
say in the current release. There are simply reports in Sales that
show you commissions earned. You would need to create checks manually.
We get quite a bit of chatter from time to time about expanding
commissions to support functionality like cutting checks and handling
split commissions. But the problem thus far has always been that each
party we have talked to on the subject has had extremely complex and
business specific algorithms for determining percentage scales,
thresholds and splitting allocation logic. This aspect tends to
drive the development cost to the moon, and they inevitably decide
they'll stick to their offline spreadsheets or other tools to sort it
out.
It would be nice to get the basic check posting and split commission
functionality in the project if any one with those requirements would
come along to either sponsor core development for it or develop their
own extension to be posted, and possibly sold, on the xChange.
